Hastings Inside Jobs Employment

There are a lot of things a student can do in Hastings. There are a lot of opportunities to go sightseeing in the neighborhood, which international students usually do! Near these places a lot events are planned there during the year.

Hastings has a pier, built in the nineteenth century, with buildings in 1930s style. At one time there was another pier based at St Leonards. Opposite of the pier, the White Rock theatre is located, which mainly stages traditional seaside light entertainment shows. North of the theatre is a 25m public swimming pool and leisure centre located at Summerfields. Summerfields is where  also the local museum, law courts, police and fire stations are located.

Near the castle ruins, on the West Hill, are "St Clement's Caves", partly natural, but mainly excavated by hand from the soft sandstone.

A miniature railway, fairground rides and amusement arcades exist, which cater for students, graduates and everyone else living near the Fish market. This market includes the striking net shops, Hastings Sea Life Centre and fisherman's museum. Fishing boats are drawn up on the beach and a lifeboat station is also present. The old town is nearby, with a number of buildings dating from the earliest days of the Hastings. There are two funicular railways, (right) known as the East Hill Lift and West Hill Lift. A bit inland is the small Stable's Theatre, which mainly shows local productions.

There is a family pool with wave machine and water slide, situated at Glyne Gap, on the coast mid-way between Bexhill and Hastings. Glyne Gap also disposed of a bowling Alley and shopping centre. There is a small cinema in Hastings but the nearest 'multiplex' is at Eastbourne.

SHOPPING

Hastings has some very nice shopping centers that cater for every students wish. Don’t miss out on shopping mall like the “Rope Walk Shopping Centre” or “Priory Meadow Shopping Centre”.
Every week there is an alternative market that is being organized in Hastings. These markets can be found in places were there are enough people of a specific nature. Shops, markets of stalls, and buildings full of shops, all offer a big variety of wares of diversity and of greater interest than the conventional mainstream. As these places have a distinct nature, they are hard to categorize, but the point is these are interesting where a big variety of non-ordinary goods can be bought. Goods on sale include non-mundane clothes, hair dye, non-standard jewelry, Arts & Crafts, non-bland interior decor items and Gothic paraphernalia.

PARKS

There are a lot of parks where lots and lots of (international) students go to to relax and to enjoy the natural environment. They are also a very good way to read, whether it is in your study book or not!

The Hastings Country Park
The park has 267 hectares (660 acres) of ancient woodland available. This includes heathland and grassland together, with 5 kilometers of cliffs and coastline. Lying within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty most of the park have been assigned a Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is now a Nature Reserve with international importance.
The park is also of archaeological importance, as it has an impressive number of archaeological finds and landmarks. A large area of East Hill is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and nearly the entire park has been identified as an Area of Archaeological Interest.

Alexandra Park
Another park called Alexandra Park was landscaped by Robert Marnock in 1878 and has been restored in a faithful way, through Heritage Lottery funding of £3.46m.This park is shaped in a linear way and it links the city center with some residential accommodations.
A survey in 1992 revealed that 57.7% of residents has been visiting the park on a regular base in winter and it came as high as 70 % in summer.  A more recent survey carried out through Citizens Panel indicated 47.4% of residents had visited the Park at least once per week.  A lot more people have come since the project had been completed. Students can expect to see and meet a lot of other students here, who come here to read or to study.

There is a wide variety of interest ranging from formal lawns and beds, water features, sport and recreational activities, natural areas such as natural woodland regular events. At the northern extreme of the site is a unique gill, which has been designated as a Local Nature Reserve, through its nature conservation importance.

After the restoration, the Council agreed to maintain the site to a high standard of maintenance and horticultural excellence, (a requirement of the Heritage Lottery Funders). To achieve this point, a head gardener has been employed and the contractor will encourage providing other dedicated staff, which will also be sensitive to the needs and involvement of the whole community.
Hastings parks are of a big importance to the normal every day life of students and locals alike.
